How do I know that I have a hernia?

Symptoms of a hernia include localized swelling, pain or discomfort on the surface of the abdomen or in the groin area.

A hernia can also be painless and only appear as a bulge.

The pain may be intermittent or constant, depending on the amount of pressure in the abdomen.

Constant, intense pain at a swollen site may be a surgical emergency and should be consulted to Surgeon immediately.

A.V.Hospital is recognized as Center of Excellence in Hernia surgery by Asia Pacific Hernia Society and Hernia Society of India. All types of complex hernia operations are performed here by Minimally Invasive Surgery. Laparoscopic hernia surgery is associated with less pain, early return to work, less bleeding and is more cosmetic. Patients are required to stay one day in the hospital.
